Official Rules for Mercy Home’s 125th Anniversary Raffle

VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.  All raffle tickets must be purchased or issued in the City of Chicago or other authorized jurisdiction.  The Mercy Home 125th Anniversary Raffle (“Raffle”) is a random draw raffle. Participation constitutes each entrant’s full and unconditional acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Official Rules.  Raffle is sponsored by Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, 1140 W. Jackson, Chicago, IL 60607 (“Sponsor”).


Eligibility / To Enter: The Raffle is open to individuals who are at least 21 years of age.  Tickets for the Raffle will cost one-hundred dollars ($100.00) per ticket. To enter, eligible entrants must purchase one or more raffle tickets for the Raffle anytime between April 21, 2012 and December 6, 2012 (the “Entry Period”).  Tickets may be purchased during the Entry Period at various Mercy Home events, including the “Have Mercy” Gala, Mercy Home’s Block Party, Ringside for Mercy’s Sake Event, or online at  Each ticket purchased entitles the purchaser to an entry in the Raffle.  After each draw in the Raffle, the winner is recorded and will remain eligible for all subsequent draws.  Tickets must be purchased or issued in the City of Chicago or other authorized jurisdiction through Sponsor prior to the end of the Entry Period.  Employees of Sponsor are not eligible to enter.


Selection of Winners and Prizes: There will be three (3) separate drawings occurring at the dates below.  In order to be eligible for a specific drawing, participants must purchase tickets prior to that drawing.  If a ticket is purchased after a particular drawing, participant will not be eligible for that particular drawing but will have an entry in all subsequent drawings.  Drawing dates and their accompanying prizes are listed below:


            a) Mercy Home’s Block Party Drawing occurring on July 20, 2012: One (1) winner will be randomly selected to receive one thousand dollars ($1,000).  Raffle tickets must be purchased by 9:00 pm on July 20, 2012 to be eligible for this drawing.


            b) Ringside for Mercy’s Sake Drawing occurring on October 20, 2012: One (1) First Place Winner will be randomly selected to receive ten thousand dollars ($10,000); one (1) Second Place Winner will be randomly selected to receive two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500); and one (1) Third Place Winner will be randomly selected to receive one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500).  Raffle tickets must be purchased by 9:00 pm on October 20, 2012 to be eligible for this drawing.


            c) Grand Prize Drawing occurring at Christmas Celebration on December 6, 2012:  One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be randomly selected to receive a guaranteed ten thousand dollars ($10,000).  Grand Prize Winner’s prize will in no case be less than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), but prize could be more than ten thousand dollars, up to a maximum of thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000), depending upon the number of tickets sold.  Raffle tickets must be purchased by 6:00 pm on December 6, 2012 to be eligible for this drawing.


All winners will be randomly selected by Sponsor or Sponsor’s representative. Winners need not be present to win. Sponsor will attempt to notify winners based on contact information provided by each winner to Sponsor with the entry.  Entrants are solely responsible for providing Sponsor with accurate and updated information.  Sponsor, its affiliated entities and personnel are not responsible for incorrect, incomplete or illegible contact information provided by entrants.  Winners must acknowledge acceptance of their prize to Sponsor within seventy-two (72) hours of Sponsor’s attempted notification, and may be required to complete and return within such time period an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and publicity release. If, for any reason, a potential winner is ineligible, unable or unwilling to accept the prize then the potential winner may be disqualified and forfeit the prize and an alternate winner may be selected by Sponsor in Sponsor’s sole discretion at random from among all eligible non-winning entries received; in such event, the disqualified potential winner will not be awarded an alternate prize.  Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received, and date of entry.  A winner’s right to a prize is non-transferable and may not be assigned.  No substitution of prize will be permitted.


General Terms:  By participating in this Raffle, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and all decisions of Sponsor, which shall be binding and final.  Sponsor and its affiliated entities are not responsible for printing, distribution, production or other errors that may affect the Raffle, its operation, or its integrity, and may rescind, cancel or revoke this Raffle based on such error and without liability by refunding all tickets purchased.  Entry constitutes permission to use winners’ name and likeness in any and all media or venues now or hereafter known in perpetuity for advertising and/or promotional purposes without further remuneration (except where prohibited by law).  


Each entrant, including each winner, agrees to release, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor, their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliates and each of their respective employees, representatives and agents, (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any liability, claims, actions, losses or damages arising in any way from participation in or administration of this Raffle or acceptance, failure to accept, receipt, ownership, use or misuse of any prize.  To the extent that some provisions may not be applicable in whole or in part, the liability of the Released Parties shall be limited to the fullest maximum extent permitted by law, including, where permitted, eliminated altogether.  Entrants agree that (1) under no circumstance will an entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Raffle, but in no event attorneys’ fees.   


Sponsor respects your privacy, and entrants’ information will not be used except by Sponsor, and as otherwise provided in these Official Rules.  Raffle is subject to the laws of the State of Illinois and the Municipal Code of the City of Chicago.  Any dispute in connection with these Official Rules or this Raffle shall be resolved exclusively in state or federal courts in Chicago, Illinois.  Entrants consent to jurisdiction in such courts. 


Winners’ List: Winner’s names will be published on Sponsor’s web site at  To obtain a copy of the winners’ names, send your request in writing along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope (VT residents may omit return postage) to: Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, Attn: 125th Anniversary Raffle Winners’ List, 1140 W. Jackson, Chicago, IL 60607.  Requests must be received by January 7, 2013.
